Maxine Nightingale is best known for her hits in the 1970’s, with the million sellers “Right Back Where We Started From,” “Love Hit Me,” and “Lead Me On.” Appearing in a handful of local clubs, she was signed by PYE RECORDS and recorded singles that include, “Spinning Wheel,” “Don’t Push Me Baby” and 1971’s “Love on Borrowed Time.” Maxine spent the early 70’s in the theater and developed her vocal talents through roles such as Jesus Christ Super Star, Hair, and Godspell. In addition, she appeared in the well-received London play Savages. After signing with United Artists, she debuted with “Right Back Where We Started From;” the song made the U.K.’s top 10 Hit List in November of 1975 and proved to be a hit in the United States, making it to the #2 spot on the pop charts in 1976.
